Exporting references from Index New Zealand

To export references from Index New Zealand into EndNote, follow the process described below.

Step 1: Select reference/s to export

First, make sure your EndNote library is open. Search Index New Zealand, and apply search filters if necessary, to retrieve relevant results.

To select references to export:

  • In the database, tick the box next to the title of each reference
  • In the top right-hand menu, click My Saved Items

Step 2: Export reference file and open in EndNote

The My Saved Items dialog box will open.

  • Tick the boxes next to the references to export (tick the top box to select them all)
  • Under Select how to save, choose Push to Export RIS and click Go

The Import to Citation Manager dialog box will open.

  • Encoding > Select UTF-8 from the dropdown menu and click Ok

  • If you are using Firefox, an .RIS file will open in EndNote and the reference/s will be imported
  • If you are using another browser, such as Google Chrome, the .RIS file will download - double-click on it from the downloads bar or saved location to open it in EndNote and import the reference/s

Open each imported reference and make any changes necessary to produce an accurate citation.
