Exporting references from SAGE Journals

To export references from SAGE Journals into EndNote, follow the process described below.

Step 1: Select reference/s to export

First, make sure your EndNote library is open. Search SAGE Journals, and apply search filters if necessary, to retrieve relevant results.

To select references to export:

  • Tick the box next to the title of each reference
  • At the top of your search results, click Download selected citations

Step 2: Export reference file and open in EndNote

The Download Citations page will open.

  • Under Format, select either EndNote or RIS (ProCite, Reference Manager) from the dropdown menu
  • Click Download Citation

  • If you are using Firefox, an .RIS or .enw file will open in EndNote and the reference/s will be imported
  • If you are using another browser, such as Google Chrome, the .RIS or .enw file will download - double-click on it from the downloads bar or saved location to open it in EndNote and import the reference/s

Open each imported reference and make any changes necessary to produce an accurate citation.
