Exporting references from Scopus

To export references from Scopus into EndNote, follow the process described below.

Step 1: Select reference/s to export

First, make sure your EndNote library is open. Search Scopus, and apply search filters if necessary, to retrieve relevant results.

To select a single reference to export:

  • Click on the article title
  • From the top menu, choose Export

To select several references to export at the same time:

  • Tick the boxes next to the article titles
  • From the top menu, choose Export

Step 2: Export reference file and open in EndNote

The Export document settings window will open​

  • Under Select your method of export, select RIS Format (EndNote, Reference Manager)
  • Select which information you would like to export by checking the boxes available
  • Click Export

  • If you are using Firefox, an .RIS file will open in EndNote and the reference/s will be imported
  • If you are using another browser, such as Google Chrome, the .RIS file will be downloaded - double-click on it from the downloads bar or saved location to open it in EndNote and import the reference/s

Open each imported reference and make any changes necessary to produce an accurate citation.
