Author identifier and profile

Scopus assigns each author a unique number and groups all publication written by that author to create a author profile. Author profile allows you to analyse citations of an author's publications indexed by Scopus,

The following example is to find the author ID and profile of the Professor Elaine Rush.

  • On Scopus search page, click Authors > type in an author's name and the affiliation of the author
  • You will find this author's publications indexed by Scopus on the next screen
  • An author may have more than one author records due to various names used in publications. Authors can ask Scopus to update their author records by using Request to merge authors option on the search result page:


  • An author profile includes: an author's h-index, author ID, names used in publications, subject areas, h-index, documents indexed by Scopus and total citations:
  • Click on View h-graph to see how the h-index is generated.
  • Click View citation overview  to see citation details. You may exclude self citations from the citation overview page:
  • You can also find details of all citing articles
  • Create a link between the author ID and ORCiD will update your ORCiD record automatically



  • Top 150 co-authors information are also available in an Author's profile. You can also find affiliation information of these co-authors:       
  • Another way to find Elaine's co-authors and their affiliations/countries is to use the Document search option.
  • Enter author's name and affiliation city or affiliation name:‚Äč
  • Click Documents by country or territory:
