EndNote for PC

A comprehensive guide to the reference management software EndNote.

Merge libraries

We strongly recommend maintaining a single EndNote library. However, if you do find yourself with multiple libraries it is easy to merge them.

  • Open the library that will become your main library (the library that will incorporate the others) and the secondary library you want to add
  • Return to your main library, from the EndNote toolbar select File > Import > File to open the Import dialog box
  • Click Choose File and navigate to the library you want to add
  • Set Import Option as shown
  • Choose an option for Duplicates
    • Import All / Discard Duplicates
    • Import into Duplicates Library – creates a temporary library of duplicates. Individual records can be added to the main library if required
  • Click Import

Merge library options

The references in the secondary library will now appear in your main EndNote library.
