Springer Nature agreement

Articles accepted between 1 January and 31 December of the year the agreement is in place are eligible
Number of included articles is capped at 3,511 articles in 2024 (collective pool for all CAUL institutions)

Includes most of Springer Nature's hybrid journals
See the Eligible journals list and check the column "Included in R&P agreement" to identify the eligible journals
Note: journals published by Nature research and BMC are not included in this agreement

To be eligible for publishing with no APC fees:

You must be the corresponding author.
You must use your AUT email
You must select your affiliation with Auckland University of Technology
It is preferable you use an AUT IP address range when submitting your manuscripts

Check if the journal you are going to submit to is on the eligible journal list
Follow the publisher's usual article submission process via the journal’s homepage
The corresponding author must submit the article
Use your AUT email address
Indicate your affiliation with Auckland University of Technology

The corresponding author will receive a link to complete the publication process
Confirm your affiliation with AUT
Springer Nature will recognise your eligibility to publish open access at no cost to you
Choose your open access license
CAUL will validate that your article is covered by our agreements
The APC is automatically waived for authors who have:
- used their institutional (AUT) email address
- selected AUT as their institutional affiliation from a drop down list
