Read & Publish Agreements

Key information

• Articles accepted between 1 January and 31 December of the year the agreement is in place are eligible
• ACM does not charge additional fees for page and/or colour fees
  • Authors should check each journal’s submission guidelines to ensure that they will not be subject to any other charges
• There is no cap on the number of articles per year that can be published under this agreement
   

Included journal titles

• Includes all of ACM's hybrid and gold journals
• Go to ACM's full journal list and check the column "Included in R&P agreement" to identify the eligible journals
  • The title list does not include conference proceedings; however, all conference proceedings are included under the CAUL agreement in addition to the journals, transactions, and magazines found in the title list

Eligible authors

To be eligible for publishing with no APC fees:

• You must be the corresponding author
• You must use your AUT email
• You must select your affiliation with Auckland University of Technology

Author information

• ACM author rights and author rights FAQ 
• ACM requires that all accepted journal authors register and provide ACM with valid ORCIDs prior to paper publication

Submission 

• Follow the publisher's usual article submission process via the journal's homepage
• The Corresponding author must submit the article
• You must use your AUT email address
• The corresponding author will receive an the email with the link to the eRights form
  • Once they click the link, they are brought to an edit screen. If the paper is part of the ACM Open Program, the ACM Open Edit Screen will have a line at the top saying “This paper is part of the ACM Open Program”
  • Confirm that all information on the edit screen is is correct. Once the corresponding author has reviewed the information and determined it is correct, they should click on the check box and then click on the Proceed to eRights Form button
  • The ACM Open eRights Form defaults to the Institutionally Paid Open Access rights and a Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 License. The corresponding author is allowed to change the options. For the corresponding author to choose a Creative Commons License they cannot change the rights option from Institutionally Paid Open Access to Exclusive License to Publish
  • Once the authors selects their Creative Commons license and clicks the Proceed button, there will be a series of questions for the author to answer that give ACM permission to publish their work. This page also includes a section that allows the author to input funding bodies and the corresponding grant numbers for the funding agencies that may have helped to support their work
  • After the corresponding author has completed the form, they will select the Submit button at the bottom of the form. Following submission, the corresponding author will receive email confirmation of the acceptance of the forms along with a copy for their records
